A Range of Student Housing Options

    • Learn how living in a learning community can contribute to your success at FHSU.
    • Our residence halls are among the newest in Kansas. We also offer a wide variety of housing options ranging from apartment-style living to traditional college housing.
    • The Memorial Union is a central hub of activity on campus.
    • The Tiger Wellness Center offers robust sports and recreational activities for all students.

I think there's a lot of great opportunities for students who decide to live on campus during their time at Fort Hays State University. As a freshman student, we have learning communities, which are a group of 20 to 30, first time freshmen, living on campus together. Some learning communities are major specific. Some are open to any and all majors, which just allows students to connect with people from different walks of life. So that's something that just really eases the transition from high school to college life. And just another great opportunity to build connections while you're on campus.

When people come to our campus, they can't believe what this place looks like. And then when we take them to our residential halls, they are just blown away. We have the newest residential halls in the state of Kansas. In fact, we built two in one year. So when students come to our campus and they see our residential halls, they look at it and they think well, I can see myself here I can be a part of this place.

Day in the Life when I was a freshman, you know, you got your phone alarm going off in the morning and you don't-- you've hit snooze, but you get up for your 8:30 class walking over to your class, which is not that far of a walk, even your classmates, if you had a break in between class, usually head over to the Student Union. Which there there's a Starbucks. There's a study area, and that was really great when you needed to just crank out a little bit homework in between class but also could grab a little Starbucks coffee when you needed. If I had a bigger break in between my class, I would go to the Tiger Wellness Center, which free to all students, nice weight sets, never busy, especially, during the middle of the day. So that was also super nice. That was walkable distance on campus too. You really feel like you're in the center of all the action when you live on campus, and that's what I love about it.
