    Culture

We call it the Tiger Ethic of Care. It means we are a warm and welcoming campus community. This is a university that values teaching and mentorship first and foremost.

Explore how you can get involved in the life of the campus.

I absolutely adore Fort Hays. Fort Hays was the first campus visit I went on and I stepped like one foot on campus, and I was like, "this is it. This is where I want to call my new home."

Fort Hays is definitely a one of a kind university. And you won't get what you get out Fort Hays out of every other university. They don't just care about you as a student here, like they care about you as a person and they really care about your future.

I saw how the community was just so supportive and I got to talk to a couple boosters, and they were just awesome. And all the faculty and professors I got to talk to on my visit just made it feel, feel like home. I had never came to Hayes until my visit. So I was a little nervous. I decided immediately I was coming here because I loved it so much.

Fort Hays does have the culture of being very relatable and feeling like home and just being somewhere where people can thrive at.

If you want to be involved, you're going to get involved because if you want to find something, you're going to find something the college is really good about providing opportunities.

I'm from a small town, I wanted that. I didn't want to be in a classroom with 800 different people. I want to get to know my professors. I want to be able to- like I want people to know me on campus. I want that community feeling so that's why I decided to go to school here.
